Bile Duct Diseases & ERCP
Bile duct (choledochus) diseases are often managed together with gallstone disease. ERCP is an endoscopic procedure performed by gastroenterologists and plays a key role in diagnosis and treatment of bile duct stones. Surgical planning is carried out in a multidisciplinary way.
Jaundice, dark urine and abdominal pain are frequently caused by stones in the bile duct. Diagnosis often uses MRCP; treatment may involve ERCP followed by gallbladder surgery in eligible patients.
